A Message from Principal Angela Hodges

A Message from Principal Angela Hodges

Dear Steiner Ranch Elementary School families,

It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Steiner Ranch Elementary.

My passion for leading and shaping an incredible educational experience for students has evolved over the past 12 years. I began my career in education in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where I taught third grade. I transitioned to the great state of Texas soon after and taught Kindergarten through fourth grade for several years in Pflugerville ISD. I began exploring leadership opportunities in 2012 when a former professor from my alma mater, LSU, reached out and offered me an opportunity back in Louisiana.

That opportunity launched my leadership experience, as I coached instruction, served as an assistant principal for three years and as principal for the 2017–18 school year. In all of these roles, I have been committed to providing excellence for each student’s education through instructional leadership. As I join your community, I have learned that SRE has a well-established environment of academic excellence. I look forward to continuing this same commitment to maintain the wonderful learning environment that is Steiner Ranch Elementary.

I will lead with a focus on the school experience for the students, families and community members we serve. Personal interactions, open communication and creating a space of involvement and belonging is important. When students walk in the doors of SRE, I want them to feel that they are in a kind, consistent, happy, welcoming and safe place. As a parent myself, I aspire to provide the same educational experience that I would want for my own child. I want all staff, students and families to feel cared for through encouragement, feedback and shared leadership.

Additionally, I will lead with a focus on providing a quality educational experience for all students. It is clear that our SRE teachers are dedicated, strong and have a history of  providing quality instruction under the previous leadership. As I transition, I will look for ways to maintain the good things that are already happening while creating a culture of feedback and growth for all. In hiring for any additions to the SRE staff, I will look for candidates who are highly qualified, have high expectations for curriculum and instruction, and who are invested in and care about students and their families. Together we will create strong partnerships in the best interest of our students!

Most importantly, a quality educational experience is not possible without the collective efforts of students, families and staff. I am just beginning to get to know the rich school history and successes at Steiner Ranch Elementary, but I can already feel the passion and love that the educators and families have for the school community. I am looking forward to getting to know and collaborating with everyone.

I anticipate a great year ahead for us! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns or ideas that you would like to discuss. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Kind regards,

Angela Hodges
